CASTING DECSIONS
Casting DECISIONS:
In any time of film project no matter how big or small, the casting of a character is important to consider. Casting of characters is important because the person playing the character has to fit the role they are trying to portray. When there are many characters within a film project, the many characters have to resonate with each other for the best performance possible as a group. Having the wrong or inappropriate casting for a character can seriously affect the sense of immersion the audience will feel into watching the film. Bad casting can also seriously affect the film in other ways, potentially controversial depending on the severity of the casting issue's. An example of controversial casting in the industry today would be the recent release of the Hollywood remake of Ghost in the Shell. This film has received major backlash from fans over the casting of Scarlett Johansson as the main lead of the film compared to the original where the lead was of Asian decent.
Jordan Ferneyhough
We decided to cast Jordan Ferneyhough as the main killer of the trailer as the clothing and props he had available together made a very good killer aesthetic that we needed for our killer to have. His stance as the killer was also a perfect match as we needed the killer to be able to hide his face and also appear to be intimidating to the people he attacks in the trailer. |
Gabrielle Ferneyhough
We decided to cast Gabrielle Ferneyhough as one of the main victims of the trailer as she was a very small female and in height would look very little compared to our killer. This is would be a useful trait to help comply with the convention of the victims being smaller than the killer so they appear to be weaker overall.
